1 journaler for this copy...
This book arrived with me today and is my current read, I'll journal a review for it once I've read it and mark it available upon completion for anyone else to read.
I've read a lot of reviews on amazon about it, and it seems to be either loved or hated. This book is marmite.
I hate marmite. Fingers crossed I'll love this book!
ETA; Well I got fifty pages in, through sheer determination, and that's when I decided my life's too short to spend reading books I don't like.
It's definitely marmite to my mind!
Each paragraph as it stands, seperate from the whole, is beautiful. Rushdie definitely has a flair for writing, and he writes beautifully-as long as you don't mind the fact that the paragraphs don't really work together all that well-or at all-and the story, such as it is, is very weak. The book was much bigger than I expected and didn't seem to have any direction whatsoever.
There are however a great many people who DO like this book, if you go to Amazon and look at the reviews there-so it's available for anyone who thinks it's there kind of thing!
