The Summer Tree: The Fionavar Tapestry Book 1

This is rather embarrassing. I got this at a library book sale today. It's the first time I've gotten a book that I already own without knowing it.
I've read a lot of fantasy books, and since it is one of my favorite genres, I tend to be very picky about it. I think that from the blurbs on the cover I was expecting a bit more out of this book, but on the whole it's a good read. I guess sometimes I get tired of the same fantasy formula (European medieval-type world, sub-human races, epic quest, etc.) although when done well it can still be very exciting to read. I think that what sets this book apart is the wonderful characters and their individual development (especially Paul's). I'll probably go ahead and read the other books in this series. I've also read one of Kay's other novels, A Song for Arbonne, and enjoyed it very much - I recommend that to anyone wanting to read more of his work!
