This is the first book of Sabrina Jeffries's new series, The School for Heiresses. The school was founded by Mrs. Charlotte Harris, with the help of a wealthy benefactor, Cousin Michael. Although they have never met they have a great deal of respect for each other and they have developed a true friendship. This book we have Mrs. Harris being Lady Amelia's chaperone while her father and step-mother have retired to the country. Lady Amelia seeks a grand adventure, she's bored of the everyday events of the ton. Until she meets Major Lucas Winter, an American who is looking for two criminals to take them back to America to be prosecuted. And one of them just may be Amelia's step-mother...

I enjoyed reading this book. I was hooked from the first page and didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed the characters, both Amelia and Lucas were good, they sizzled together. I also enjoyed reading the letters that were sent between Charlotte and Michael, I wonder if we'll see something going on with them throughout the series. Okay, my only complaint is that the story was rather quick, everything happened so fast that I didn't get a chance to enjoy...LOL I'm looking forward on reading the next book of the series, Only A Duke Will Do, it will be out in September 2006.
