The novel Princess Daisy takes the reader on a journey of the princess's life. From pre-birth (the story of her parents), through her the idyllic childhood in Big Sur with her mother and her adolescence in England with her father. Family secrets take hold and define Daisy's life. Through circumstances beyond her control, Daisy's secrets become public and for Daisy, a weight has finally been lifted and she can now live her life to the fullest and without restraint.

I found the first half of the book slow moving. Judith Krantz introduces us to Daisy's father and the story of his youth. Then Daisy's mother. And then tells their story. And then tells of Daisy's childhood and adolescence. The novel doesn't really start to pick up pace until halfway through when the story shifts to focus on Daisy. Because of her past, Daisy is a strong, determined young woman and relies only on herself for her own survival. With her princess upbringing, she has poise, grace and class. But she is also down-to-earth and hard-working. I enjoyed Daisy's story and enjoyed spending time with her.
