Amazon.co.uk synopsis:
"After five years of legal formalities in Pickax, Jim Qwilleran has officially inherited the Klingenschoen fortune. In search of a summer's peace, Qwill and his two cats head for the Potato Mountains. But Qwill finds controversy and one of the locals has been imprisoned for murder."
Updated 3 May: On its way to Katweeble and sandyundead. They're big 'The Cat Who...' fans and this, along with three books, are ones that they're missing. I was given a lot of the books from this series after I appealed for any book at work!

Thanks for this - I am really looking forward to reading more from the series

I love this series, but as I am trying to read them in sequence it can take some time to get the next one! I had to wait sometime for the ones before this one! This time Qwill goes to a different part of the country - the Potatoes (do they really exist or is this a real flight of fancy) where he gets annoyed by the bigotry of the better off residents when they are talking about the residents who are more in tune with the environment. He solves a miscarriage of justice and decides to go home - in a week long visit that feels like a lot longer.

Another great instalment from this series, with a change of location this time. Can’t wait to read the next one, as there’s a cliffhanger at the end. Mum has it already so just have to wait for her to finish it.
Will give this back to mum to release.

Very nice! I think I like these earlier "cat who's" better than the new ones (but of course I love all of them) and this one was particurlary good. This will go to another Cat who-fan here in Finland next.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Lukuiloa! Jos kirja ei löydä ottajaa miitissä, vien sen Kirjasto 10:n vaihtohyllyyn lähtiessäni.
I took all three Jackson Braun books from today's monthly meet-up :D I'll probably read at least one of them myself too (and of course then the others, if the first one is good, easy and quick enough for me to read), but my actual/secret plan is to take them to Porvoo.. ;) Thanks for the books!
Reserved for Delenna :)
Meow!
A quick and lovely reading experience :)
I was left with a few questins though:
a) why does Qwill use traveller's cheques? He didn't change country, did he?
b) he rents a place for a few months, decided to build a gazebo on the premises, hires a man to do it - and _then_ asks the realtor if it-s ok o.O and the realtor shrugs saying yes, without asking the actual owner O.O
This is written in the 90's, maybe that was normal in the US back then...
Oh and
C) who owns/takes care of Lucy?!?

Thank you for the book, Delenna! This is a new series for me, but who could resist a cat whodunnit.

This was a delightful little book. I have read one other The Cat Who book before, which I liked, and I enjoyed this even more. My favourite passage was this:
"He invited the Siamese into his bedroom for a read.
'Book!' he announced loudly, and they came running. They always listened raptly as if they comprehended the meaning of his words, although more likely they were mesmerized by his melodious reading voice."

It took me a while to enter the story.
I can't say I really liked nor disliked it.
An average book, I would say.
