'And you, my Carolina in the mornig, are my mountain...'

In these letters to her daughter Caro, Kate Llewellyn diplays all the quantities so evident in THE WATERLILY and DEAR YOU:

Warmth, depth of percetion and poetic appreciation of the astonishments and absurdities of life.

But whether discussing Caro's lifestyle or merely describing the problems of being a tourist in Northern Australia, The Mountain is ultimately about a mother and daughter - and so it brings insight and understanding to one of the deepest, oldest relationships of all.

Kate Llewellyn was born at Tumpy Bay, South Australia, and now lives in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

She has published three bookd of poetry,
TRADER KATE AND THE ELEPHANTS, LUXURY AND HONEY and was co-editor, with Susan Hampton, of The Penguin Books Of AUSTRALIAN WOMEN POETRY.

Her first piece of prose writing, THE WATERLILY was published in 1987 to wide acclaim.
She followed with DEAR YOU in 1988
And THE MOUNTAIN in 1989, re-published in 1990.
