BOB blurb:
On a world supported on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown), a gleeful, explosive, wickedly eccentric expedition sets out. There's an avaricious but inept wizard, a naive tourist whose luggage moves on hundreds of dear little legs, dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and of course THE EDGE of the planet...
Amazon.co.uk review
The Colour of Magic is Terry Pratchett's maiden voyage through the bizarre land of Discworld. His entertaining and witty series has grown to more than 20 books, and this is where it all starts--with the tourist Twoflower and his hapless wizard guide, Rincewind ("All wizards get like that... it's the quicksilver fumes. Rots their brains. Mushrooms, too."). Pratchett spoofs fantasy clichés--and everything else he can think of--while marshalling a profusion of characters through a madcap adventure. The Colour of Magic is followed by The Light Fantastic.

Will be read and passed on....
Will be read and passed on....
I don`t know why; but I just don`t think fantasy is my thing right now...
Maybe It`s just Terry Pratchett`s style of writing that I find a bit hard...
Didn`t like the book very much; so I`ll send it off to kathintheboots tomorrow.
I really hope and think you`ll like it more than I did.
Safe Journey :D

I forgot to check the mail on Saturday, so even though it was a postal holiday today, I found this in my mailbox! Thanks for the trade, LESEHEST, and the pretty bookmark! I'll be sure to get On the Bright Side, I'm now the Girlfriend of a Sex God in the mail to you this week.
I am fighting with myself over the rating for this book, because even though I enjoyed Pratchett's writing style, the characters, and the general storyline, I was rather annoyed that absolutely nothing was resolved by the end of the book. From the reviews I've read of the second book, which I will now have to acquire to see how the story ends, it seems like they should have been one larger novel. Still, living on the California coast, tourists are often the bane of my daily travels, especially in summer, and it was cathartic to read Pratchett's send up of tourists in the form of Twoflower. And I did find the Luggage especially amusing...luggage that it's impossible to lose, even in death!
This book has traveled across three different continents, so I don't really want to release it and lose it to the wilds. I'll think of a way to keep it traveling by some other means.

I sent this to collectorkerri yesterday via media mail.
Thanks for the RABCK, katintheboots! It will go onto my TBR shelf for now.
What an absolutely strange little book! Bizarre is more like it, what with the Luggage, the world on the back of a turtle ("sex unknown"--HA!) and the imaginary-but-not-really dragons. Despite all that, and the funny parts, I really didn't have an interest in the futures of any of the characters, so I think this will be my one and only Discworld novel.
It is off to 727 in Lithuania as part of my monthly RABCK drawing. Enjoy!

I received it last week but was able to record it only now. Thank you a lot, collectorkerri, for this book! Now I will be able to read Pratchett's series from the beginning, I've heard lots of good things about it :3
Tried reading it and somehow didn't stick with me. Thus giving it away to a friend who's a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy.
