A paperback second copy I bought today on my weekly charity shop spree! Doceo33 requested it see here I already have a copy so it's going out as a Ray :)

PS - This book weighs about 1kg (that's my guess holding it and comparing it - from memory - to a bag of sugar and therefore not scientifically measured!)
EDITED to add I wasn't far off - it weighs 950g :)

From the back cover:

The year is 1806, England is beleaguered by the long war with Napoleon, and centuries have passed since practical magicians faded into the nation's past. But scholars of this glorious history discover that one remains: the reclusive Mr Norrell, whose displays of magic send a thrill through the country.

Proceeding to London, he raises a beautiful woman from the dead and summons an army of ghostly ships to terrify the French. Yet the cautious, fussy Norrell is challenged by the emergence of another magician: the brilliant novice Jonathon Strange. Young, handsome and daring, Strange is the very anthihesis of Norrell.

So begins a dangerous battle between these two great men which overwhelms that between these two great men which overwhelms that between England and France. And their own obessions and secret dabblings with the dark arts are going to cause more trouble than they can imagine.

I am sending this one on, as I have had it way too long. I never got to read it, unfortunately, as I had illness issues, etc. but I feel guilty keeping it so long. I have messaged the next person and will get it in the mail soon.
