The Beach
2 journalers for this copy...
Read this book on a bookring and enjoyed it so much I decided to buy another copy in the Op Shop - only $1 and in great condition. Registered for the Race to Three Million Challenge.
My journal entry from the other copy reads :-
A great first novel. I finished this book in the wee small hours .. I couldn't put it down. It's "sort of a dark take on backpacker culture in South East Asia". Full of suspense all the way through. Some of the characters were not fully developed, but mostly you could easily visualise people such as Jed, Keaty, Francoise and Etienne. I could not understand why they all thought the beach was such a paradise, right from our first interaction with Sal, I had bad vibes about where it was heading - such regimented daily work details didn't sound like Eden to me.

Happy reading from meganh!
Hello Meganh! Found your book on 28th of July, about 3 pm at one of the most beautiful places I know: near Squeaky Beach in Wilsons Prom. I found it on that bench, you described. I had a beautiful time there together with my girlfriend that I visited in Australia in July. We spent our last days for the next two and a half months there together. Then she will be coming back to Germany where your book is at the moment. To be precisely: it is in Aachen now, 80 km western of Cologne. I have never seen or heard of bookcrossing before but I like the idea very much of letting the book travel around the world. So, I will read it soon and then set it free again at a suitable place for letting it continue its journey. I think, you chose an adequate place for its start!
