Deservedly shortlisted for the Booker 1999. Sweeping and a times Dickensian, this book needs time as it plays with time frames in a period of Egypt of which I now know more. A good read for those who love history with a touch of romance and the uncovering of issues.

Just started last night. Got it off Stephen Hall from February's meetup. Next in line for this book is Sue which is why I am gonna rush to finish it!
BTW Stephen, I managed to get 'A Nyonya in Texas' and 'Manglish' from Popular bookstore today. They had run out of stock on 'Malaysian Flavors' ~ Emily
