This beautiful book blends Vietnamese folklore and American realities to create stories about struggles with our past and our future.......it won the Pulitzer prize in 1993 and I think it is much more powerful as a collection of short stories rather than one long epic tale......Butler is able to speak so eloquently through the minds and hearts of many different characters.
