My husband read this but didn't enjoy it. A friend sent it to me so I will read it before I release it.

I don't think Jane Langton really knew what she wanted to do with this novel. She tried to show us everything she knew about Venice while forgetting that we wanted to read a good mystery. There were elements that were irrelevant to the story, the voice kept changing and the mystery wasn't the focal point. It certainly does not encourage me to read any other of her books.

I completely agree with Kimmi's comments on this book. In fact I couldn't make it to the end of the story as I got completely sick of all the descriptions of Venice.
