I'm about 2/3's of the way through this book and will be sorry to come to the end. Miriam Toews is one of my favourite authors, her characters are so believable and utterly charming. She has small town life captured in this novel and I should know having grown up in several.

I'll be putting this one in Kimmi's Canadian authors book box to give it a bit of adventure. Enjoy!

Finished this last night. A nice feel good ending. I'm tempted to save this for a Canada Day release in a small Manitoba town, but that's too far away. So into the box it goes.

I really enjoyed Toews' A Complicated Kindness and so as soon as I saw that this book was hitch-hiking in the CanLit box I knew I wanted to read it. Thanks for sending it on the road!

I really enjoyed this. Very charming and quite funny; Toews has a wonderful style and her characters are extremely interesting and endearing. This book reminded me a bit of some of Fannie Flagg's novels. Really a delightful read and I will definitely be looking for more of Toews' books in the future. She's lots of fun. Thanks very much for sharing this!

I also enjoyed A Complicated Kindness, so wanted to read more by this author. This looks like a book - the theme reminds me of Richard Russo's Empire Falls, but maybe lighter and less depressing. Looking forward to it.
