This was completely a spontaneous buy in the buy 2 and get 1 free selection. I decided that this one would be my free book as it was picked virtually at random. I had never heard of this author before but the blurb on the back sounded good.

The story spans a week leading up to Easter and there is a maniac on the loose killing young catholic women. Each are found with their hands bolted together and clutching a rosary. It's up to veteran cop Kevin Byrne (who has rather a suspect past) and his new rookie partner Jessica Balzano (split up from her detective husband with a young child to care for) to find the killer.

There are a ton of suspects who seem to leap out at you as being the obvious villain but just as you think you have it sussed another suspect appears. As usual I got it all wrong!

Another new author for me - I caught it at the Costa Coffee meet-up.

I know it's been ages since I caught this, but now I've read it I must admit that I was completely gripped from start to finish. Just like MoJeDen, I didn't guess the identity of the serial killer at all.

It's the first book I've read by this author and as the story had just the right amount of grizzlyness (grizzle?) and suspense I'll look out for the follow-up someone time in the future.

Thanks for sharing and hope to see you soon!

I've just googled and found out that there is an extremely poisonous plant called a Jequirity or Rosary Pea with bright red seeds (that look like rosary beads) and red or mauve flowers. Therefore I'm going to release this as part of the 2007 NJABBIC challenge, week 25 - flowers.

Released 16 yrs ago (6/28/2007 UTC) at Main Road in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

As part of the 2007 Historical Release Challenge, I left this in a protective plastic bag on top of the drinking trough that was erected in 1902 to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII.

The trough part of the memorial is currently filled with bedding plants which I think look so much better than litter and general detritus!
