I actually found this book really difficult to read. Read it for a college course, and got myself in hot water for writing a disparaging review of it.

So the premise is a post-apocalyptic, post-atomic war world where people are thrown back to the neanderthals in terms of intelligence and society. Basically, I don't remember anything that happened in the plot, except a puppet show embued with spiritual significance and a vision of a grody rat-woman who represented Death. The really interesting thing about the book is the style in which it is written. It comes that from the persepective of one of those people, who consequently does not have the greatest mastery of speech as a mode of communication. Example: "Wen Mr Clevver wuz Big Man uv Inland thay had evere thing clevver." So, if you're the kind of person who can read that without wanting to get out a red pen and scribble all over it, maybe this is the book for you. Myself, I just found it so opaque as to be distractingly difficult.

Now I will make a general disclaimer and sincerely hope that someone out there will find this book to their liking.

Thanks, Portland!!

Many thanks to the Portland Bookcrossers who sent this to our OBCZ! I'm journaling this in, to release soon.

Bookcrossers are the best!!

Thanks, Drowningmermaid! You won't believe this, but just two weeks ago I had a friend/customer ask if I'd ever heard of Riddley Walker, and if I ran across a copy, to let him know because he wants to read it! How cool is that?! I'm marking this Reserved so I can do a controlled release. Thanks!!
