Unfortunately, Neil Postman hit the nail on the head with this book. While his arguments are nothing surprising, they do make you wonder what this world's coming to. Yes, we live for amusement. No, we seldom discuss things seriously, or even think about things seriously anymore. However, I'm heartened by the things I see on this website - people promoting the sharing of the written word, forums where people can discuss what they've read, groups forming so people can get together and hopefully discuss something other than the latest sitcom. There is hope...
