I'm the anonymous reader, I forgot to login before I made my original journal entry and it won't let me edit that entry. Sorry about that, guess I was just too enthusiastic about this book.

This certainly was a strange sort of book. I loved the prose, descriptions and metaphors which kept me reading. But it was a bit tricky to follow since it did not follow a linear form as many novels. Once I decided to read it not expecting the traditional form it was easier to read and read it in bits and pieces. Of interest was the political climate in India post independence, the different religious groups not just Hindu and Moslem but Christian as well and how all of these reflected on the cast system.
I'm passing it on to a co-worker who is from India who read it before and wants to read it again who should get even more out of it than I did having a better understanding of the culture.
