What a great book! A "quiet" read and very satisfying. I liked the fact that it was told from the 12 year old girl's perspective. Anita Shreve is now on my list of authors to look out for. Thank you for organising this ring, jamesmum :-)

I have chameJD's address and will post to her in a couple of days.

I thought this was a great story. It was the easiest Shreve book to read that I've encountered and I enjoyed it just as much as, if not more than, the others. Thanks for including me!

This book was mailed out on 5/6/06.

Rcvd book today. I have 1 short book in front of it and will be starting this one middle of next week.

What makes a family? That's what 12 year old Nicky Dillion wonders after she and her widowed father discover a wailing abandoned baby in the snow-filled woods near their New Hampshire home. Through the days that follow, the Dillions and the unexpected visitor who soon turns up at their door, face a thicket of decisions.

05/20-I flew through this book and read it in a little over 1 day. Loved it! The characters came to life for me.

05/26-send to S. McDaniel per jamesmum request. Sent via media mail.

jamesmum-I've tried pming you several times regarding this ring, and haven't heard back. So as a last resort I decided to get a hold of you this way.

I sent this book to S. McDaniel back in May (per your request) and Im hoping that he/she has received it and maybe forgot to journal it? Can you please pm or email me and let me know. Thanks!!

Thank you for sending the book along to my friend - it's nice to know that the book has found its way into the hands of several readers. I am not too worried about the book being journalled - if it is, that's nice, but if not, that's okay, too. To me, the point is sharing and reading, not journalling. I'll mark it as TBR, so that it no longer shows up on your list of travelling books - I'm confident that it found its way to its destination.
