This is an excellent book and the second copy of it I've registered here. I first read this for part of a 'Banned Book' discussion at my library. It was almost hard to read at times because of the abject treatment of women, but unforgettable. I loved how it was narrated.

From the back of the book:
"In rich, pure language, in a story so powerful it will move you to tears, Margaret Atwood has drawn a chilling portrait of a future that may not be so very far away."

On its way to rooshill for a trade.

Thank you very much for sending this. I had added it to my wishlist as part of a "banned book" challenge I'm undertaking. I'm fascinated by the cover description and may "cheat" by moving it up ahead of others in my reading list.

Wow. Horrible, scary, disgusting...the society in the book, that is. The story is amazing. I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book, and I think I'll see about finding a copy for PC so I can read again some day.
I was a little disappointed with the lack of description in a few parts, but even that fit the pattern of the book - the narrator stopping with a statement like, "No, no more. I don't want to tell that story."
The ending made me exasperated at first, but upon reflection, it works out better perhaps than it would have if the author gave us any more.
This will now go to Book Relay.
