City of Glass was dark and disturbing with not so much to recommend it, other two are TBR, watch this space.....

Well, overall I was still disappointed... Originally bought due to the connection between Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt (whose writing I adore), I was made aware of their marriage by a fellow bookcrosser and wondered if they had similar styles.
The characters in The New York Trilogy are exactingly detailed but more in a relentless, compulsive way as oppposed to a rich and rounded description. It got to the point where I felt frustrated with the narrative, didn't care about the charcaters and actually only wanted to complete the book for the sake of completing it.
That said the concept of the stories was sharp and clever - maybe detective stories are simply not to my taste.
To be offerd up as a bookray.
