From the back of the book:
Illustrated with almost 200 strikingly beautiful stills from the film - shot on location in snowbound Copenhagen and in Greenland - this book is the perfect companion to the major motion picture starring Julia Ormond (in the title role) and Gabriel Byrne.
Fans of Peter Høeg's Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow have eagerly awaited the film by internationally renowned director Bille August, winner of an Academy Award (Best Foreign Film), the Palme D'Or at Cannes and the Golden Globe for Pelle the Conqueror. The present volume contains not only the film's screenplay - with a different ending from the book' - but also conversations between Bille August and Peter Høeg, background information on Greenland, an account of filming on location in one of the world's harshest climated, and interviews with cast and crew, including Julia Ormond, Gabriel Byrne and Richard Harris.

Peter Høeg's best-selling novel, published in 1992, is the literary phenomenon of the decade. Ruth Rendell has said it is "a subtle novel, yet direct, clever, wistful, unforgettable", while the New Yorker has called it "a book of profound intelligence". Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow: The Making of a Film gives a unique insight into how the fascinating and complex Smilla Jaspersen came into being on both the page and screen.

I have bought this copy for the BookCrossing Convention in Amsterdam. I bought it in English Books on Frederiksgade in Århus, and if you ever visit the city you should pay it a visit. They literally have hundreds and hundreds of English used books. The store is crammed with books but the owner is very helpful.

So I read the book after having read the novel. It is interesting to read about making a film - it is also interesting to read how a book was made into a film. This book returns to Aarhus, I think it is fitting that it does so.
