The Shadow of the Wind

Recommended as a similar read to "The Book Thief", which I loved. Purchased to replace woosang's copy which went missing in transit.
Absolutely loved this book! Only got halfway through it earlier because life intervened but so glad I got through it this time. It's a rich, rewarding journey through literature and love. There's two intertwining stories - one of Daniel, who finds a book by Julian Carax in the "Cemetery of Forgotten Books", and the other of Carax's life. Really great plot and description - it kept me riveted!!
Will send now to woosang.

Hey, hunnyb! Wanted to give you a new journal entry for when you got home :)
Thanks for sharing this book. At the rate I'm going with this flu I should have it finished in no time!

Loved this book, hunnyb! Thanks so much for the loan :)
What an exquisite read - a richly charged, dramatically dense novel with a protagonist I saw grow up before my eyes. Loved the deliciously sinister figure of the man without a face, as well as the delightfully sardonic sidekick who almost steals the show. I must say I picked a few of the twists before they were revealed - but then again it *was* so involving that I actually drew up a diagram to help me work it all out.
I'm just sorry that it's over!
Ready to return at our next "meetup" :)
