As soon as I finish reading, I am sending the book to notnot.

For some reason, this book has been a challenge for me. I really enjoyed the Handmaid's Tale. I couldn't put that book down, but this one didn't have that effect on me till like around page 300.

Although there is a passage that the word choice was so unusual that I really enjoyed it. (I normally don't include passages of the book in journal entries.. maybe my entries are evolving.) Anyway...
"As we went on, he became less and less like a man for me, with a skin and working parts, and more and more like a gigantic tangle of string, which I was doomed as if by enchantment to try every day to unravel. I never did succeed."

I have felt that way before as I believe that those words are very accurate.

Okay. I just finished reading the book. I didn't see the ending coming at all. I caught on to who the lovers were in the story of the Blind Assassin, but the ending.. whew.. didn't see that coming at all.

I don't think that I mentioned that there are 2 stories going on in this book. They are intertwined. One part of the novel is the story of Iris, her marriage and her life. The other part of the book is a novel written by one of the characters in the book. The two stories almost alternate chapters.

enjoy!

I have started reading the book now, and it looks promising. I will come back with a better review of the novel when I have finished it.

Brilliantly written, this is a grand story. Margaret Atwood has a way of writing which is very enjoyable, and she manages to convey the pictures to the reader without any fuss.
The two stories are intertwined to perfection, and the end comes as a complete surprise.

I will have to keep this one!
