The Back of the Book

Set in the 1950s, in an Engladn still recovering from the sEcond World War, The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets is the enchanting story of Penelope Wallace and her eccentric family at the start of the rock 'n' roll era.

Penelope longs to be grownk-up and to fall in love; but various rather inconvenient things keep getting in the way. Like her mother, a stunning but petulant beauty widowed at a tragically early age, her younger brother, Inigo, currently incapable of concentrating on anything that isn't Elvis Presley, a vast but crumbling ancentral home, a severe shortage of cash, and her best friend Charlotte's sardonic cousin Harry ...

Certainly a captivating book if only for it's portrayal of teenage 1950's Britain. The new life emerging from the rubble of WW2 what people clung to and what new opportunities they either feared or craved.
I wonder if age would play a part in your enjoyment of this book, which character would you most identify with dependant on what chapter of your own life you are in or what feelings you miss experiencing?

Thanks for sharing laura0141. I've got susanmrz address so it will popped into the post first thing tomorrow.
