Nomi Nickel lives with her father, Ray, in East Village, a Mennonite town in Manitoba. She dreams of escaping to the big city, but since her mother and sister left home, it´s hard to imagine leaving her father behind. As she begins to piece together her mother´s disappearance, she finds herself on a direct collision course with the town´s minister - der uncle Hans, known as The Mouth. (from the back)
Well, not really an easy reading, but nevertheless a great one. I liked the style, it´s a little story, told in a very calm way, Nomi uses a lot of funny expressions to express her feelings. But the more you read you get an uneasy feeling, because Nomi is such a nice girl and you wish her a happy ending, but at the same time you not that it cannot come true...

Travelling with Geegal´s "All English Kids and Teen Lit Bookbox"
The blurb sounds really interesting, and the comparison to Holden Caulfield made me curious. Thanks, Daine!
This is a "green cover book", read for bigbooklover82's MtTBR reading challenge. I really liked this novel. Nomi, the narrator, is a fresh and authentic voice in young adult fiction, and her description of how such a community works was utterly believable.
I will pass this book on to my daughter, and at the end of June it might come to England with us to be released at the Cornish coast.
