The Year of Magical Thinking

Explicit and at times painful depiction of how Didion coped with the sudden death of her husband and what proved to be the fatal illness of her daughter. Much of it will seem familiar if you have lost someone close and verbalizes the feelings as not many could.
Got this from kenj at tonight's local BookCrossing meeting. I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks!
I liked this book better than "A Grief Observed" by C.S. Lewis, but there's still something intensely personal and almost intrusive about reading someone else's personal account of grief.
Giving to a friend.
This was passed on by a friend after my husband's death. While I shared Didion's grief, I didn't care much for the name-dropping and tour of fabulous places and restaurants. I left the book at a grief support center.
