#4 in the Sookie Stackhouse, Southern Vampire series

11/05 Rec'd via Paperback Swap - RSVD

Very enjoyable read. Sookie finds a naked man by the side of the road in the middle of the night, and the action takes off right away! Author Charlaine Harris's twists and creative plotting keep this #4 in the series exciting & fresh. Sookie is always a winner!

Received this in the mail today. I usually devour these skinny books in no time, but we'll see how soon I can get into the post office.

2006 Book #10 - Southern Vampire (Sookie Stackhouse) 04: Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris

From the back of the book:
It's not every day that you come across a naked man on the side of the road. That's why cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse doesn't just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn't a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It's Eric the vampire- but now he's a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life. Sookie's investigation into who and why leads straight into a dangerous battle among witches, vampires, and werewolves. But a greater danger could be to Sookie's heart- because this version of Eric is very difficult to resist...

Like I said, these skinny books I can read in no time! Despite work and sleep I finished it in about a day and a half. :) I'm also really appreciating that ladiibbug has now become my Sookie hook-up! :D The action is non-stop but thankfully it's not gratuitous in its gore or sex. Reading the Southern Vampire series has been a great improvement on all those increasingly horrible Hamilton books. There's an interesting plot that doesn't JUST devolve to ego-standoffs and daisy-train sex.

The, ah, side adventure with Eric was interesting and I almost wished he could stay as he was, but there was no way he was going to remain so. I just don't care for "bad boy" characters, but that's just me. Oh and the ending with the people from Hotshot was my favorite part, I think. For once something happens that you might think is a pretty bad thing, but the party involved is actually happy about it. It should certainly add an interesting angle in future books!

Excellent book and a wonderful thought-free quick read!

Enjoyed this one, as I have with the others in the series. But, this one was a little flat. I felt that it was a sagway book. I did enjoy the addition of the Hotshot people, and it seems a lot of love angles are being introduced. I do wish the characterization is this book was a little richer. I also wish that Sookie would give Bill a little more time to explain. But, maybe the next book - I am hooked up with the next two books in the series.

I have the next address and it will be going out today.

This book braved Alberto and arrived in my mail box today. I am so excited. I love this series of books and can not wait to start reading them again. Although I have just finished the first two books in the 'Undead' series by MaryJanice Davidson and I am going to have to get my mind set back on Sookie.

Will be starting this as soon as I finish my current read.

I enjoyed this one as well as the others so far in the series. I think that the Sookie books are my favorite paranormal books at the moment.

I really did not care much for the 'new & improved' Eric, I like the old Eric better. I really did not like the relationship between Eric & Sookie. It just seemed so superficial and that is not how I picture Sookie. I am beginning to wonder if any of the supes are any good for Sookie as far as love interests go.

Over all I liked the storyline and I am already about half way through the next book in the series so I hope that these 'Southern Vampire' books keep coming.

I am looking forward to seeing how Jason handles his new lifestyle.

Will be on to the next participant in the ring as soon as I have their mailing address.

Thank you for including me in this ring!!

I picked this up at the PO yesterday. Not sure why it wasn't available to me when I checked my PO box on Monday the 3rd, but I lodged a complaint with the Post Master General.

I'll get to this soon, and am sure I can finish quickly as these have always been fast reads for me. I've PM'd Mergyrl for her address so I'll have it ready.

Thanks for sharing this!

This series has become one of my favorite vamp/paranormal series. I liked the introduction of the Hotshot folks and look forward to the dynamics that they will add to future stories.

I have finally heard back from the next reader and this is going in the mail to her today. I'll edit this when I have the confirmation #

Yeah! This arrived at a lovely time - I have nothing going right now so I will start reading tonight!

Journal Entry 15 by Mergyrl from Tacoma, Washington USA on Monday, August 21, 2006
I loved this book. I finally got to it this past weekend and ignored everything else until it was done.
I do like the introductions of the Hotshot folks and more of the Shreveport Were community. I also like Claudine and hope to see her again. Really not surprised at Jason's reaction to events - this is going to get more interesting.
I wish there was a happy medium place for Eric. He was a bit too sweet as the "new" Eric, but he was honest about his feelings and motives and he treated Sookie more like she deserves.
