Oates, probably one of the most prolific living writers, never fails to live up to expectations (where does she get all the inspiration?). This one, while frightening with its in-depth look at the teen girl's neuroses, does illustrate what might happen in the 50s, in a girls' gang. A tough girls' gang. One I wouldn't want to be in, no way!, but one which was great to read. Oates sucks you in and then spits you out gasping. Enjoy!

well I haven't read it yet... and to tell you the truth I have never been a JCO fan, but was so excited to see a book crossing book in TJ's that I had to take it. (Its my first find!)...will rate it when I release it
