River Corbett has been accused of a crime he can not remember committing. Drugged and confined to a mental hospital where someone wants him dead and his only chance of survival is escaping and finding the truth. He finds himself back at the scene of the crime and faced by the soon to be new chief of police. Cassandra "Jax" Jackson knows that she should not trust this man, nor should she put her job on the line to protect him, but nevertheless she finds herself doing just that and falling for the man at the same time.
