An interesting quick read.
I felt sorry for Jefferson as he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, also in those days he was the wrong skin colour.
A sad story of trying to change a man whose fate is sealed.

Picked up at the BC meetup and is now sitting on my TBR shelf :)
I found this book profoundly moving and it left me in tears. It reminded me a bit of "To Kill A Mockingbird" but written from the African-American perspective, and it's disturbing to remember that the era in which it is set (1940s Louisiana) is so recent. I'd recommend that everyone should read this classic book, I think it's amazing.
