This book was published by Wayward Books (www.waywardbooks.com), which specializes in "gay books by new authors" - I've read three or four of their books so far, and the quality varies dramatically. This one wasn't among my favorites, hence the release; I didn't especially care for the plot setup or for the writing, but it might appeal to someone else. Other books from this publisher were more to my liking: "The Larton Chronicles" by James Anson, and "The Sorceror's Web" by T. P. Macer. (The latter is extremely sexy, with a significant S/M thread, all set in a medieval-fantasy universe.) I think the writing in both "Larton" and "Web" are better than in "Perfect Trust," for what it's worth.

By contrast with "Larton" and "Web," "Perfect Trust" doesn't seem to have a consistent tone, and while there are sex scenes they aren't as intense (or frequent) as those in "Web". The plot brings two undercover agents together to pose as a gay couple; to their mutual surprise they find they really are gay (you really have to suspend disbelief to get through this one), and then they set out on a series of increasingly bizarre adventures. It actually reads more like one of the old adventure comic strips, where pirates, voodoo priests, spies, and angry femmes fatale show up at every turn, and with no pretense at logic. (Come to think of it, that's exactly what it's like; I might have enjoyed it more if I'd thought of it that way. Add a bouncy, "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack and maybe some Zydeco...)

Haven't read it yet! I found it at a book sale at the library...I will either send it off with a relative going to England or leave it on a coffee table at a book store!
