"Samantha is a high-powered lawyer in London. She works all hours, has no home life, and cares only about getting a partnership. She thrives on the pressure and adrenalin. Until one day...she makes a mistake. A mistake so huge, it'll wreck her career.

She walks right out of the office, gets on the first train she sees, and finds herself in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she is mistaken for the interviewee housekeeper and finds herself being offered the job. They have no idea they've hired a Cambridge-educated lawyer with an IQ of 158 - Samantha has no idea how to work the oven.

Disaster ensues. It's chaos as Samantha battles with the washing machine...the ironing board...and attempts to cook a cordon bleu dinner. But gradually, she falls in love with her new life in a wholly unexpected way.

Will her employers ever discover the truth? Will Samantha's old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back?"

I really liked this book and found it really hard to tear myself away and put it down. It is funny, heartwarming and romantic, too.

I really enjoyed this book, and if I hadn't been so busy, could have easily finished it within a day or two.
A million times better than the Shopaholic books.
Thank you to Annkrozeika for letting me be part of this Bookring. I'll be sending this on to Michelle1977 on Monday.

What a GREAT read! Oooh I loved this book! I was really looking forward to reading it and it didn't disappoint me one bit! I loved Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series although I didn't enjoy the "& Sister" one as much as that previous ones. The main character in this book, Samantha, is a little more grown-up than Rebecca Bloomwood and that's what I really liked. Although she has the same naive twists that make you laugh out loud. In short, a lovely read!

I still can't quite believe though that the author is the same person who write the Madeleine Wickham books. Having said that, I always enjoy those as well, but they are so different.

Anyway, I already have Raeliz64's address and will mail the book to her on Saturday or Monday since I'm still on holiday in Canada at the moment.

Thanks to Annkrozeika for making a bookring out of this and sharing it with us!

Well this was the first Sophie Kinsella book I have read, but it certainly won't be the last - I really enjoyed it. A lovely feel-good book.

I'm so sorry I had this so long I thought I had posted it already, I'll put it in the post on Tuesday to
beckerbuns as sunshinedreamr asked to be skipped.

I loved this book though, I read quite a lot of chick lit but this book really struck a cord with me. The way she is so cut off from life at the start of the book made me realise that is exactly what I am doing. I haven't been sat in a pub with mobile phones representing different friends but I can picture it far too easily.

I will be buying my own copy of this soon I think as it deserves more that one read through.

RELEASE NOTES:

The book is off to StrangeEmily!

Journal Entry 13 by StrangeEmily from Trikala, Trikala Greece on Wednesday, July 19, 2006
I picked it up from my Post Box today three days before my two-week holiday starts! I haven't read a chick-lit book for 5 years at least, but now is the time! Thank you beckerbuns!

Journal Entry 14 by StrangeEmily from Trikala, Trikala Greece on Monday, July 24, 2006
It's a well-written chick-lit novel, with humour. A good read for a lazy summer weekend in a city like Athens (I really enjoyed the description of an English garden).
The first 100 pages captured me, reminding me how unnatural life in the city is, in contrast with living in the countryside. But... when the story comes near to its end, it gets boring, at least for me. Fnially I felt like I was watching a Hollywood comedy, trying to find its way to the ending (happy or not- I am not going to spoil it) by repeating itself. Still, I have to say that the main character is very humane and her reactions very close to reality, and that kept me going!

I'm going off to the post to send it to Charlieboots76.

Journal Entry 15 by Charlieboots76 from Ringwood, Hampshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, August 1, 2006
Thankyou StrangeEmily, I recieved it a few days ago and have been a bit slow with the journaling, sorry. It is next on my list to read so should be back with Annkrozeika soon.

Journal Entry 16 by Charlieboots76 from Ringwood, Hampshire United Kingdom on Saturday, August 12, 2006
I really enjoyed this book. I don't think I have read any by Sophie Kinsella before and I will definately look out for her in the future.
I hadn't really read the back of the book, I tend not too incase it ruins the story to much, and was nicely suprised to find that it is an UK based book, I get so fed up of reading American ones!

Thankyou Annkrozeika for setting up this great ring, if you pm me your address I will get it in the post next week.
