Prairie Rose
3 journalers for this copy...

I picked this up at the Ramstein Air Base (GERMANY) Library Free Book Exchange shelf. I hope to READ and RELEASE!

This book is on the move and will be sent with the movers from Kaiserslautern, Germany to our new location near Washington, D.C.
The movers will take all of our possessions sometime in July or August and we will get access to them again when we get settled and unpacked in our new house in October or November. This book will be marked as traveling until I get the chance to get all my books out on bookshelves and make new journal entries that will change the status to something more suitable.

This book has been unpacked in Waldorf, Maryland.

One of my favorite features of BookCrossing is the opportunity to track books where ever they may go. We just moved from Waldorf, MD to Bolling Air Force Base in Washington D.C. and it is time to update each book's location and make sure that we have located each book after the move.
I am trying to set the status of all my books to be correct at this time.
Permanent Collection (PC) means that I plan to keep this book for the foreseeable future.
Available (AVL) means that I have read the book or don't desire to read the book and it is ready to move on in some fashion.
To Be Read (TBR) means that I plan to read it (at least someday) and after I read it I will decide what to do with it.
I reserve the right to change my mind at any time!

A new beginning...
For seventeen-year-old Libby Watson, the unexpected news of an inheritance seems heaven sent. The general store in a small Illinois town bequeathed to Libby by her uncle will free her ailing father from the deadly coal mines and offer Libby and their motherless family a new life.
Reaching for a dream...
Libby seizes her opportunity with a fervor born of long-held hopes and a yearning heart. Immediately she is caught up in the lives of the townspeople, sharing in the joys and sorrows of a close-knit community, struggling to fulfill her dream to become a writer...and learning that life and love often require bittersweet choices. And in the steadfast belief that faith will sustain her; she takes the hard-won steps that prove her to be a young woman of strength and courage...challenging herself to meet each day with a passion for living.

From the back cover description this seemed like a book that I would like. And on the front cover it mentions that this book is in the tradition of Christy by Catherine Marshall and while I never really got into that book I liked the television show and I hoped that by reading this book I would find something new to like. I found that this book was dull and lifeless much of the time and it was long and drawn out. There were so many things that could have gone much faster if someone had just gotten to the point rather than beating around the bush.
This was not the book that I expected and if I had not three copies of it I would have given up on reading it somewhere about halfway through.

Released 14 yrs ago (5/18/2009 UTC) at National Zoo in Washington, District of Columbia USA
WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Lilgrovers and I took advantage of a lovely day to go to the zoo. We had quite a time taking pictures and looking at the animals that were out. We also left books around in hopes that they will find good homes with other zoo goers.
I left this book near the prairie dogs.
You have found a very special book! This book was left on purpose because it needs to find a new reader. Have a great day and Happy BookCrossing!!!

My family was on vacation in Washinton, DC and spent the day at the National Zoo. My 9-year-old son found this book as we stopped to rest and admire the Prairie Dogs. I had just finished the book I brought on the trip and needed another one. Thanks!
"Prairie Rose" is now with me in Western Wisconsin and will be released soon!
