Synopsis
Set in Dublin, a sparkling romantic comedy in the bestselling tradition of Marian Keyes, Jenny Colgan and Cathy Kelly. Having just celebrated her thirtieth birthday, Anna Allstone is feeling high and dry on the shelf. Even worse, she has to face the prospect of attending a school reunion hosted by Victoria, the ex-school bully, to which partners are invited. And Anna doesn't have one. I just checked (was curious) and I did indeed read a book of short stories last week and one of them was written by this author. It was called 'Girl's Weekend' and was very good so I am really looking forward to seeing how good a book this author can write :)

I managed to finish this last night. I say managed because my life has changed (gone back to working full time) and I don't seem to have as much time to read anymore :(

So I found it hard to get into this one at the beginning but then it got better. I wouldn't say it is a great book but it must have had something because I kept on reading till the end. It made me giggle now and again and it also maybe cringe a little but all in all it was good honest Chick-lit and I will be reading more by this author in the future (already have another on my tbr pile).

Thanks alot Mystiknat for sending this one to me (as well as the many other books) and helping me try some new authors.

I will try and trade/relay this but I may also release it...only tiem will tell :)

Light reading with a pretty predictable outcome: Single girl worries about class reunion, needs the perfect date. Best friend is married. Some men in between, including the typical married jerk, and the "oh he is such an idiot, of course I do not like him" wonderful friend. The characters are likable but a little sketchy. Good for a few easy hours of reading.

My Review: Feb 2009

Chick-lit not made in UK but Ireland this time. Nice change, although to me it made not that much of a difference. It seems as if young women here or there like a good night out with lots of alcohol and nice men.

The story was amusing and quite alright. Better than the chick-lit I read before. Only the very ending was, aehm, somehow stupid. Not because of with whom she finally ends up with but how.

Nice chick-lit, but nothing special. Somehow I do not understand why the British think, drinking a lot is fun and the only way to spend free time. I like a glass of wine, however just for the taste of it and not to get drunk like in so many English or Irish books...
The story itself was nicely told, somehow it could be true, but it was clear from the very beginning, who will be "the one" - not only for the night of the reunion but for at least some months... Darren was a special case and also here, there had to be more to it, than just one bloke disappearing after having sex.
