I must have caught this at the convention, but it slipped through my fingers and onto the bookshelf without a journal entry.

This is a good book. I'm not sure if it's autobiographical or not: it seems to have autobiographical elements: the small Prairie town, the poor people on the other side of the tracks, the disapproving grandfather, the tensions in the household, the need to take care of other members of the family whether you liked them or not. Most of these stories were published or broadcast over a period of years. The stories are
* "The Sound of the Singing"
* "To Set Our House in Order"
* "Mask of the Bear"
* "The Loons"
* "A Bird in the House"
* "Horses of the Night"
* "The Half-Husky"
* "Jericho's Brick Battlements"
* "The Sound of the Singing"
* "To Set Our House in Order"
* "Mask of the Bear"
* "The Loons"
* "A Bird in the House"
* "Horses of the Night"
* "The Half-Husky"
* "Jericho's Brick Battlements"
This book is falling out of its cover. Once I've glued it back in and it's secure, I'll be passing it along. I plan to release it in a book-poor area such as Welland, Ontario, or to leave it in a bus terminal where it might be picked up by someone going a long way.
