The book arrived today and I cannot wait to read it! It is up next after Jemima J! Thanks Jamesmum, I will journal more when I have read it!

Journal Entry 3 by Flakes from Bloomington, Illinois USA on Monday, March 6, 2006
Arrived safe and sound today. Looks like a quick read, so I'll send it out on its way again by the end of the week!:)

Journal Entry 4 by Flakes from Bloomington, Illinois USA on Wednesday, March 15, 2006
I loved this book and Lynne Truss' sense of humor. Light and fluffy reading, but with a great message. I found myself nodding along when the author gave examples of each of her 6 Good Reasons to Stay Home and Bolt the Door. I particularly enjoyed Chapter 4: "The Universal Eff-Off Reflex".

Thanks so much for sharing, jamesmum!:) Sent the book on its way today to Polliwog.

I received this fun-looking book today! I plan on digging right into it and hope to mail it off to Pam99 in a week or so. Thanks jamesmum! I'll journal again when I have read it.

Journal Entry 6 by DocandSunshine on Saturday, April 15, 2006
I had finished the book a week or more ago but then I managed to come down with pneumonia (after I had packaged the book up to mail!) so it sat unsent on my bookshelf. My apologies! I am sending it off to Pam99 in Scotland today and it will go airmail (from the USA) so she should have it in a week to 10 days or so.

I really enjoyed this book. The author has a wonderful sense of humour and I liked her style as well. It was nice to know that things I think are rude, someone else agrees because I often think I am overreacting! Thank you jamesmum for the opportunity to read this fun book!

Journal Entry 7 by wingpam99wing from Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland United Kingdom on Monday, April 24, 2006
It arrived today and I'm nearly halfway through it already (I've been looking forward to this one, and when I saw what it was I started reading it there and then on the doorstep - no wonder the neighbours think I'm odd!). Thanks jamesmum and polliwog for posting, I'll get this moving along as quick as I can.

Arrived safely today. Thanks to jamesmum and pam99. I'll be dipping in and out of it while reading other books :-)

I can't quite put my fnger on why, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as I expected to. Maybe I found the book to be a little too true and honest and it filled me with disquiet more than anything. Maybe I'm too sensitive for my own good *g*

Posted to TracyR today.

Journal Entry 11 by TracyR on Monday, June 12, 2006
Arrived home this afternoon after a weekend away to find this book waiting for me. I have another ring in front of it but will get to it as soon as i can.

Journal Entry 12 by TracyR on Tuesday, June 27, 2006
I have somewhat mixed feelings with this book. On the one hand i did find myself agreeing with her little niggles and yet on the other hand i felt that people can be very rude and no matter how much i get annoyed, they won't change.
Thanks jamesmum for starting this ring. I have the address for ScarletBea and will get this in the post sometime this week.

Journal Entry 13 by TracyR on Tuesday, July 18, 2006
I finally managed to get this sent out in the post today.
I am so sorry it has taken me so long but i have been moving house and have also been away. Life has been a bit hectic recently.
Anyway, the book is moving again and thanks to jamesmum for giving me the chance to read it.

First, sorry for the delay, but I was away for 2 weeks on holidays.

I quite liked this book, although not as much as her previous one.
I think that reading 'Watching the English' at the same time as this one, just highlighted somehow the 'lightness' and 'common sense comments' that Lynne Truss makes...

However, I still enjoyed reading it!

Arrived the other day and as it's a small book I read it before I got the chance to journal it.

Journal Entry 17 by pennina from Brighton & Hove, East Sussex United Kingdom on Wednesday, September 27, 2006
Thankyou, Dodau and JamesMum. The book just arrived. I haven't read Eats,Shoots and Leaves, nor the 2 books Lynne Truss mentions in acknowledgements but I am really looking forward to reading this:)

This was definitely a book of three parts for me. I found the first 70 or so pages so boring I nearly gave up. It got better after that for a while and I even laughed out loud at one point but then the book deteriorated again. I detected a slight lack of enthusiasm on the part of the author too. I haven't read Eats, Shoots and Leaves and, after this, probably never shall. It benefits from being a short, quick read:)

Journal Entry 19 by TheLetterB from Dunedin, Otago New Zealand on Tuesday, October 3, 2006
This book arrived in the mail today - well protected from the torrential rain we had today, thank goodness! Will try to read it and get it circulating again as soon as possible.

Well, I was rather disappointed by this book. I related to Lynne Truss's first book, because I often find myself wincing at grammatical or spelling mistakes on signs (especially when they've been professionally printed!). This book, however, seemed like one that shouldn't have been written. I don't think Truss is particular clear on the book's purpose, and even though the structure seems sensible at first, I found many of her anecdotes could have been switched to different chapters without bothering me (i.e. I just didn't get the relevance of half of them to the supposed subject of the chapter). An interesting read all the same, and there were one or two laugh out loud moments when Truss struck a chord with me, but overall it just left me feeling glad I'm not yet as bitter, twisted and cynical as Truss! Thanks jamesmum.

Have PMed Mochagirl today for her current address, as she was skipped.

Edited 18 Nov: Never got a response from nanny60read, so I shipped the book off to Ajsmom this week.

Caught today, thanks! I like the saran wrap on the book....tee hee.

I found this book to be a disappointment, especially compared to Eats, Shoots and Leaves. It felt like she didn't have quite enough material to fill a book, and so padded it out a lot. I was bored by parts of it and ended up skimming at the end.

Having said all that, I appreciate the idea behind it all - that people are getting ruder - although I wonder if it's not something that gets repeated through the ages (as well as the one about teenagers are "so less responsible than we were! What's wrong with this generation?").

I have PM'd Luintaurien for an address and will have this book on its way when I hear back. Thanks for the ring, jamesmum!
