Aunts aren't Gentlemen

Synopsis
'Go to the country, breathe pure air, go to bed early and get plenty of exercise. If you do not do this, I cannot answer for the consequences.' On doctor's orders Wooster withdraws to the country, there to lead the quiet martini-less life, to sleep the sleep of the just in Maiden Eggesford. The air is nimble, the countryside appealing, and only the presence of the irrepressible aunt Dahlia shatters the rustic peace. As always with aunt Dahlia , an 'imbroglio' develops - destined to be famous down the long years as the "Maiden Eggesford Horror" or "The Case of The Cat Which Kept Popping Up When Least Expected". For however generous or kind-hearted they may be, there is one thing that can be said of aunts as a class: they are not gentlemen.

Thank you for a lovely surprise:)
Garanteed Jeeves and Wooster quality with Bertie's involuntary engagement, jealous suitor and a father-in-law-to-be who just hates poor Bertram Wilberforce.
I send this lovely book to Soozreader.

Wodehouse as ever is a joy and a delight. Bertie as usual is beset by difficulties, what with the demands of his Aunt Dahlia who insists on him kidnapping a cat in order to fix a horse race, and accidentally becoming engaged to a young lady who would force him to give up both smoking and cocktails. Without Jeeves he would certainly be in the soup.

Sent to yorkshire-lass from Alphabet VBB round 9. Enjoy!
Thank you, I'm looking forward to this, it's been many years since I last read any Jeeves & Wooster. As my TBR pile is massive it may be a while until I can get to this.
Thank you for the postcard, I love it and will be putting it on my notice board in the office :-)

It's been years since I read anything by this author and I'd forgotten just how good they are. This was read in an afternoon, and what an enjoyable experience it was!

Fry and Laurie are Jeeves and Wooster, totally, utterly. I can't read a single line of dialogue without hearing their voices, exactly, word for word . . .
The usual muddle is sorted in the usual way. It's all very satisfactory!
Thank you again - great fun :-)

Heading into West Yorkshire from North in the hands of the Royal Mail, carrying Stay Safe Greetings as we head back into Lockdown! Hey, ho! What a year!
Royal Mail were a little slow this time. Nearly two weeks for second class! I am going to give this book a go even though, (shock, horror) it's only my second P.G. Wodehouse, and I was a tad disappointed with other one I read!
Sadly I just couldn't get into this. I must be one of those odd people who doesn't quite get P. G. Wodehouse. G. K. Chesterton? Well that's another thing..............
However, I do know someone who might be more appreciative.

What a lovely surprise along with the card and other goodies although I fear that it is unlikely that the chocolate will make it to Christmas. One of the few P.G.Wodehouse that I haven't read, thanks for sharing I look forward to reading it.

I must admit that I love Wodehouse's writing style and his gentle, quirky sense of humour. His books are always quick reads, he is such a clever word-smith and whilst his books aren't laugh out loud funny Bertie’s tangled explanations, coupled with Jeeves’s deadpan replies are a joy. If I had one complaint with this book is that Jeeve's barely features but I enjoyed it all the same.
