I adored this book as a child! I am looking forward to revisiting it as an adult!

I am about half way through this book! I love the quote on page 165:
It is where Francie discovers she can read for the first time. I too recall this being such a joyous occasion and I have never lost that joy when it comes to books:
"From that time on, the world was hers for the reading. She would never be lonely again, never miss the lack of intimate friends. Books became her friends and there was one for every mood. There was poetry for quiet companionship. There was adventure when was tired of quiet hours. There would be love stories when she came into adolescence and when she wanted to feel closeness to someone, she could read a biography. On that day, when she first knew she could read, she made a vow to read one book a day for as long as she lived."

What an absolute treat it was to revisit this book. Even though I loved this story as a child, I don't think I appreciated all it had to offer at the time. This was a great coming of age story of a young girl, Francie Nolan growing up in Brooklyn in the early 1900's. Fantastic read!!!!!!
