Journal Entry 1 by tabby-cat-owner from Bellingham, Washington USA on Monday, December 26, 2005
From the day that she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of "Stargirl, Stargirl". She captures Leo Borlock's heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first.

Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to bevcome the very thing that can destroy her: normal. In this celebration of nonconformity, Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves an emotional tale about the perils of popularity--and the thrill and inspiration of first love.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This was a cute story. We should all be like Stargirl and really be ourselves. I think as we get older, we do that but it's hard when you are a teen. Thanks for sharing and it's on it's way to MaryZee. Enjoy!

Journal Entry 8 by wingmaryzeewing from Taneytown, Maryland USA on Monday, March 13, 2006
Arrived safely today. Unfortunately, I'm working on another bookring now, and I've got a couple others sitting here. But since this is such a small book, I'll fit it in and send it on as soon as I can.

Journal Entry 9 by wingmaryzeewing from Taneytown, Maryland USA on Friday, March 17, 2006
I loved this charming story. This one had lots of parallels for me. The author graduated from Gettysburg College, which is about 15 miles from me. Book was published by AA Knopf, and distributed by Random House, where I worked for many years. But it gets better...

My daughter's best friend was also homeschooled until she started 10th grade. A few years ago, her mother picked this book up because it reminded her of her daughter, Jenna (so she told me). Very smart, individualistic, although not quite as much of a stand-out as Stargirl was. Just a lovely girl to be around, who was different from the "typical" teen. And the best parallel of all - my daughter's name (being best friend of "Stargirl"/Jenna) - Dori.

Other than this being a totally charming story, another reason I really enjoyed this was because of all the little things Stargirl did to brighten people's lives. Everytime I leave a book in the wild for someone to find, I hope I'm brightening someone's life too.

Sending this off to LyekkaMarengo on Friday, 3/24.

05/03/2006 Will be mailed to Wiley90 today. This was a very good story with characters that anyone, old or young could identify with. I think Stargirl is probably the person most of wish we had the guts to be. You can understand Leo's problem with making his choice but you really want to smack him upside the head. So many of us as teenagers and later care so much what other people think and this book really illustrate why we should just follow our hearts.

Journal Entry 12 by Wiley90 from Sheboygan, Wisconsin USA on Tuesday, May 9, 2006
The book arrived today. Thank you.
I'll start on it tomorrow.

Journal Entry 13 by Wiley90 from Sheboygan, Wisconsin USA on Friday, May 12, 2006
This is a very thought-provoking story. I highly recommend it.

I will send this on as soon as I get a response from Biomicah.

Oh yes! This is such a fantastic story! I love reading it every opportunity I have. Thank you for sending this my way and including me in the ring! I will have it in the mail again Friday! Contacting Tabbystripes now!

Journal Entry 16 by Biomicah from Patton, Missouri USA on Sunday, May 21, 2006
I sent the book off YESTERDAY to tabbystripes. I contacted Tabby Stripes on the day the book arrived in my home for her address!

I'm sorry for offending the bookring owner and Im sorry for the two names that have been missed. I have already bought and registered another book for the two I skipped! See it here.

Journal Entry 17 by tabby-cat-owner from Bellingham, Washington USA on Sunday, May 21, 2006
That was very nice of you to buy a book for the two bookcrossers that missed the book. I was thinking of adding them after whitehorsy of Belgium.

Thank you also for the apology. I understand that life can be too much for all of us sometimes. Perhaps you took my PM as a criticism when I was just trying to communicate with you. It takes a big person to apologize.

Journal Entry 18 by tabbystripes on Thursday, June 8, 2006
Received in the mail yesterday. Thanks Biomicah!

The book arrived in a Royal Mail plastic-bag with a note saying that it had been damaged in the post but it looks fine to me. In fact it arrived in better condition than a lot of other books I've received in the mail. Weird.

I'm going to start reading it today so hopefully I'll be ready to pass it on soon.

Journal Entry 19 by tabbystripes on Friday, June 30, 2006
I'm obviously in the minority here but I'm afraid I didn't like this book very much. I couldn't get lost in the story because the characters seemed incomplete. Even halfway through the book I didn't feel like I knew or understood them so I didn't care what happened. Sorry for the negative entry!

I will now PM the next person on the list.
