Club Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries)
11 journalers for this copy...
From the back cover:
"There is only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with (at least voluntarily) and that's Bill. But recently he's been a little distant - in another state, distant. His sinister and sexy boss Eric has an idea where to find him. Next thing Sookie knows, she is off to Jackson, Mississippi to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead. It's a dangerous little haunt where the elitist vampire society can go to chill out and suck down some type O. But when Sookie finally finds Bill - caught in an act of serious betrayal - she's not sure whether to save him... or sharpen some stakes."
Much better than the second book! The story is more consistent and less predictable. Some interesting characters have been added, with potential for further development. Although I think that the motif for all the illegal activities in this book is a bit lame. But then, it could also be a very good tool for Sookie to be used in the next few instalments of this series.....
Book #2 in 2006, published in 2003, 259 pages. Total pages for 2006: 320 pages.

So far, I liked this book best! The story is less predictable, which is something I really enjoy, and some new and interesting characters have been added. This gives the series a wide potential for further development...
Still bouncing about my apartment, still squealing with delight, because there's more Sookie! :-) Yippie!!!
Did I mention that today arrived three bookrings total plus a huge bookbox? Murphy's Law... Psst... don't tell the others, but Sookie has priority... ;-)

I just finished the book on my commute home from work. *sigh* I want more Sookie! Behaving like an addict... LOL
I liked this book a lot, too, but I couldn't pick a favourite of the three novels I read so far. They are all special in themselves.
I loved the additon of the new characters and I certainly hope we get to see more of Alcide! When the thing about Bill developed and what he did all I thought was: "That's so typically MEN! Doesn't matter if they're of the undead or breathing kind!" LOL
I think all those illegal actions that happened in the book were needed for Sookie to develop. Up 'till now she's been "innocent", so to say. Now she begins to discover her dark side. It actually reminds me a bit of Anita Blake. But only a little. ;-)

The more I read the more I fall in love with Sookie’s character. She is so tough yet vulnerable at the same time. I had really liked Bill but he has fallen a few notches now. Men!! Of course, Ms. Harris gave us Alcide. He is someone I hope to see again in the future. Thank you cathepsut for sending out these wonderful books!
BTW I read that the Southern Vampire book series has been picked up by HBO as a new show. The creator of “Six Feet Under” will bring it to life.
Mailed out 04/25/06

Just received this a few minutes ago and can't wait to read. I love the bookmark. WOW! Thanks for including me.
Oh this was such a treat. I do love how Sookie is developing but she sure does find trouble easy enough. I found the first few chapters slow but the rest was great.
As for Bill, I say toss his butt out. I love Alcide but his attention is a little split and for Eric, I don't know, I think maybe he is vampy, sneaky, ect. I do think if Eric's character were developed a bit more it might be an interesting match. He does seem to care and that's what counts.
Too many hunks here to choose from. Guess I'd like to have one of each. LOL!

Received in the mail yesterday. I will read and pass it on to the next on the list. Thanks!
WOW, I love this series, and can't wait to read the next one. This one had more suspense than the previous two, and I sometimes found it hard to put down. I find Eric to be more appealing than Bill - I like Eric's sense of humor, but Bill doesn't seem to have one. I also liked Alcide, the werewolf, who was introduced in this book, (except when his brain stopped working and he was trying to make Debbie, his ex-girlfriend, jealous.) Its going to be fun to see what Sookie gets herself into in the next book and how her love life plays out. Thanks so much to cathepsut for making this a ring. I'm ready to send this one to synergy as soon as I receive the address.
Mailed out to synergy today. Happy Reading! :)
This book came in the mail today. I'm getting avalanched with books at the moment and as a matter of fact another book came in the mail at the same time. I'll get to it as soon as I can, but it might be a couple of weeks before I can get to it.
I don't recall how I ended up on this bookring, but while catching up on my books read, their reviews, and what I'm reading next, I realized that I was expecting to have gone on a bookring for book 5, not 3. Book 3 I read a while back in a bookring of ladiibbug who I think had something to do with getting me on this ring. If anyone knows of a Book 5 bookring, please PM me!
In the meantime, I apologize for the sidetrack and I've contacted the next person in the ring for their address.

I really liked this book. It was as good as the 1st 2. Thanks cathepsut. I will find a new home for it soon.
