Quoyle is a hapless, hopeless hack journalist living and working in New York. When his no-good wife is killed in a spectacular road accident, Quoyle heads for the land of his forefathers -- the remotest corner of far-flung Newfoundland. With 'the aunt' and his delinquent daughters -- Bunny and Sunshine -- in tow, Quoyle finds himself part of an unfolding, exhilarating Atlantic drama. The Shipping News is an irresistible comedy of human life and possibility. 'To read The Shipping News is to yearn to be sitting in The Flying Squid Lunchstop, eating Seal Fin curry, watching the icebergs clink together in the bay.' The Times

I've seen the title somewhere before but hadn't delved into finding out what it was about, so I look forward to reading this when my Mt TBR is a tad lower!
"Someone" keeps sending me WONDERFUL books to read so Mt TBR is threatening to topple over and crush me...not that I am complaining ofcourse! LOL!!
Thanks peggysmum! :-)

This book is just "calling home" to say hello and let you know that it's still alive and well! :)
I would like to sincerely apologise for holding to this books so long! My health has been quite bad over the past few years and I have been unable to concentrate enough to read novels and retain story lines. So, rather than hold this book back from travelling further, I am releasing it into BibliophileOz's hands and she'll take the book to a meet-up or release it in a suitable location. Thank you for understanding! :)

Gratefully received from aussie-rose.
I'm tempted to keep this as I think I was too young to appreciate it when I first read it many years ago. I don't need more books so I’ll take this to the BookCrossing Meet-Up in March. If I want to re-read it, I may already have a copy....somewhere.... I'm sure my mum has this book too :o)
If it doesn't find a new reader at the Meet-Up it will join the Great Book Swap.

So I recently had a realistic look at my "to-be-read" pile, and realised that even if I did nothing but read books for the rest of my life, I would never get through them!
So I've decided to keep some and let the rest (including this book) go.
At least this way they might be useful and actually get read, rather than sitting on my shelf for another decade!
