A woman must deal with a dying father and a troubled relationship - not to mention a difficult boss.
Thin book, light reading. I enjoyed it but not enough to keep. So hopefully somebody else will enjoy reading it.

WOW, i assumed it would take much longer for this to arrive. It was a nice surprise to find it today in my mailbox. Thanks!
When i asked for this book, i did not know it was a chapter from The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing, one of my all-time favorites. In this chapter, Jane's father finally reveals to the family that he is very sick, and Jane gets back with Archie. I read these mere 60 pages in no time, once again relishing in the beautiful writing. The words are just in the right measure, not too many, to muddle the narrative, but enough to give you clarity. I love Melissa Bank, and once again get mad at the thought that her works get classified under "chick lit".
On a different topic:
I very much liked the idea of Penguin editing these short works to celebrate their 70th anniversary.
The picture on the front cover is horrendous. Look at Jane's feet!

I was sending Dittybopper a bookray, and threw this one in too, because it fitted the envelope so well. She is awesome and has decided to continue doing this, so we're running two rays simultaneously.
I have "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" but haven't read it yet so this will be a fresh read and add to my book count. Thanks GorgeousGlo! I will send it along with the bookray for others to enjoy as well.
Another fast read - it makes me look forward to reading "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" to find out more about the main character of Jane. Thanks GorgeousGlo! This one will be included with Love, Loss, and What I Wore which I'll be sending off shortly.
What a nice surprise! Thanks, dittybopper, for including this with Love, Loss, and What I Wore. I'll read both ASAP and then get them sent off to the next person.
This was a good, fast read; I enjoyed it. Thanks again, dittybopper, for including it with "Love, Loss, and What I Wore." I'll be sending both book to Megi53 early next week.

Oh, what a good surprise! So this is what a "Pocket Penguin" looks like (just my size).
I haven't read The Girls' Guide To Hunting and Fishing either, so now I can get a preview of it.

I thought most of this story was terribly sad. I felt so sorry for Archie.
One bright spot was Rebecca, the water filtration salesperson/landscape artist, because she was so delightfully quirky. Mimi's little quirk of spraying perfume on Jane's wrists was very amusing, too.
The insight into an associate editor's work life was fascinating -- Jane's description of editing Mr. Putterman's novel kept me riveted.
Suburban Girl will ride along to Australia with Love, Loss, and What I Wore -- I'll try to mail it this afternoon.
ETA: mailing on April 18 via Global Priority.

Thanks for this lovely little surprise! Will read it this week and then release at the Sydney BC Meetup.
Ok, ignore my last entry! I got a bit confused about the fate of this lovely little book. It will go along with "Love Loss and What I Wore" to Canada.
Bookring, along with love, lost, and what I wore thanks
sending this on to next person in ring along with love, loss, and what i wore
I've read A Girl's Guide To Hunting & Fishing before and this is one of the best chapters from it. It's very cute and light and fun - and short. I really enjoy Banks' quirky one-liners, and there were some good ones in this book. :)
