Copies of Wild Animus were generously given to BookCrossers by the publishers, and I got one one of them - thank you. It's an unusual book. I'm not sure if I liked it. It's been a while since I read it but essentially a young man goes off to Alaska and goes completely potty on mindbending substances, some of the time living off his girlfriend's wages and most of the time worrying and upsetting everyone who cares for him (including her - she deserves better, you cad).

Parts of it read like a thinly-disguised autobiography, and judging by the author's blurb on the back that might not be a coincidence - although I'm sure he's a nicer person than the character in the book :-)

Anyway, the idea of giving out free copies was that we would pass them on, so off mine goes.

What a lovely idea - finding this book was a little bit of serendipity and made my day that someone had put a little sticker on the front saying "I'm not lost, I'm free ...". Having read the blurb though, this doesn't seem to be my sort of read but as of 3 December 2005 here goes ... Who knows where it will end up ...
