Looking forward to this bodice ripping historical yarn
not my usual fare but I assume basics will be right (eg the Duke of Buckinghamshire was actually on the scafold in the spring of 1521) if not my poor knowledge of english history is about to become even more confused.

Will journal again when I release.

There is something of mills and boon meets the terrible Tudors
But this is better than just the run of the mill bodice ripping stuff
Historical context and detail is interesting
however I often found myself wondering how much of the characters were based on fact and how much based on the various axes the author had to grind
While avarice and power and the trials and tribulation of family were appealing to humans from pre history -
Im not sure women’s rights let alone women’s rights as explored in this novel were common sources of personal angst for the aristocracy of Tudor Britain.

I also felt that the rivalry between the siblings was a little flat, it was studied and played with as a theme rather than a visceral expression of the narrator.

All that aside I stood to the side of the passage way in the tube station while I read the last 10 pages.

Definitely worth reading especially if historical novels or chick lit are not your usual tastes.

Question now is where do i pass it on......

I found the book in the train Station of Stevenage right before getting on the train to King Cross Station in London on December, 17th 2005.

I brought the book to Montréal, Canada. Then in a small village up north of the Quebec province, Montbeillard.
