The first instalment of Tolkien's legendary "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, which formed the basis for Peter Jackson's three movies and - just - my favourite of the three.
A must read, even for those who have seen the films - not only is it a great book, there was quite a bit that didn't make it to the big screen.
