On my TBR pile

A collection of nine short stories which won the Pulitzer prize in 2000. Elegantly written, they combine to give a diverse picture of Bengalis in exile. I found the stories very fresh, because they are set in America and Bengal. The choice of the short story allows a much greater range of cultural diversity and varieties of assimilation to be explored than a novel such as Monica Ali's Brick Lane does.

It Lahiri's first book, and is a remarkable acchievement.

I may ring it or return it to an OBCZ.
