I enjoyed reading this book as Auster's prose in general is highly enjoyable. And I generally love the way he keeps playing around with narrative and chronological levels. Having said that, I feel that he gets carried away by his own devices this time around. There are several threads in the story that seem to go nowhere, the Bowen story (which I enjoyed while it lasted) and also the Chang/notebook thread which remains unsatisfactory in the end. But still - a good book no doubt about it...
