Livre très touchant pour ceux qui auraient envie de lire en anglais. Une femme nous fait partager sa vie à travers son courrier : elle est producteur et sa soeur est atteinte de leucémie.

Very touching book of a woman sharing her life through her correspondence. She is producer and her sister got leukemia.

I did it ! I did it ! Who would have bet ?

I thought that was a kind of another Bridget Jones' Journal, but with letters this time. Maybe misfortunes and heartbreaks and crushes would have appeared similar, but Olivia is probably wiser and deeply involved in her affections, even if she is blamed not to be.
I feel I didn't progress a lot in english (my errors here don't let any illusion about it : si quelqu'un accepte de me corriger, c'est bien volontiers) because I almost didn't use my dictionary, but I read faster, and I'm quite ready to live this kind of experience again.
Another big point is that I took "Don Quichotte" which Olivia tried to produce at the library, just to evaluate if their adaptation was that ludicrous.

I actually didn't know anything about bookcrossing, and I was handed this book by a colleague who is a French teacher, and who recommended it to me. I've just finished it today, and I reckon this is a very touching and moving text. I may be an 'oversensitive' reader, but what moved me most was the way the main character manages to be so realistic about the confrontation between disease/unhappiness and hope(optimism)/the simplicity of what life is all about. At leat, I felt close to her viewpoint.
My friend and I had discussed it a little, and she had told me she had found the end somewhat unexpected, but I personally didn't, although, I must say, all these characters experience so many upheavals, especially Olivia who seems to get into trouble in every possible way! A bit like Bridget Jones, I agree with the analysis of the very funny side of the character, and even of some outrageous scenes.
