about a literary agent, first novels, jealousy and whatnot. seems like the perfect read during nanowrimo.

two nanowrimos later i finally read it. though i was engrossed and could not put it down at first, the after taste is less sparkly.

the book starts off really well and up until halfway everything is really promising. until lily starts slowing things down, and down. and down. in the meantime, with all these writers about, you keep wondering how many aspects of keyes' life have been brushed up to be a whole character.

and what's that product placement thing? protagonist jojo despises of it, the book's villain is in love with it, and not so stealthily we get to see the same brand names over and over again. i do hope they did write a nice cheque, for that would be the only reason to annoy one's readers so.

i had hope for 8+ stars but feel i'm being generous with 7. too close for comfort, i say. hope next book enjoys more of a distance with keyes' life. (this one enjoyed research at the new york firefighters'?? what for?)
