this was a re-read for me but really enjoyable. I love the alternate reality and the links with books are a must for avid readers - eg the changes she makes by zipping in and out of Jane Eyre! Makes me want to re-read Jane Eyre now - but too much on the TBR pile!
This books is available but be warned - I dropped it in the bath today and its still a bit soggy, so condition is not great!

Thank you very much for this wish list RABCK!
This is the first Jasper Fforde I´ve read and I really enjoyed it. The characters were engaging and I´ll certainly be looking out for more adventures with Thursday Next.

Couldn't get on with this one I'm afraid, not sure whether its the "sci-fi" element or whether its the amount of conversation rather then narrative in the first chapter that I found hard going. Thank you anyway laura0141 for letting me have a go and will be passing on to dsc as soon as I have an address.
Book and postcard arrived safely this morning, going on the top of Mt TBR.
I hope I don't need to know too much about literature to "get it".
Thanks dogsapples for sending it on.

I'm afraid I am going to abandon this one too. It may be that I am not giving it long enough chunks of time, but I really cannot get into this. The plot seems very bitty and there are asides which are a bit bizarre. Will pass on when I have an address. Sorry!

On its way to Rillaith
Arrived safe and sound - but my partner had bought me the series as a recent present about the same time, so sending it straight on :)
Really liked the book, and can't wait to get to the next one. The more classic literature you've read or know a little about, the more of the jokes you'll pick up on.

Recieved in the post this morning. Thanks very much!
Am looking forward to reading it.
Am looking forward to reading it.
Finished last night! I'm afraid, though, it wasn't my cup of tea. I did appreciate the effect Thursday has on the ending of 'Jane Eyre', but otherwise I found the characters quite unbelievable. Acheron Hades was too over the top in his evilness, the conflict between Thursday and Landen with respect to her brother didn't really ring - and neither did it's resolution. I do like the idea of an alternate 'literary world', but ultimately the large amount of info dumping - especially at the start - meant I found the writing quite irritating and was never fully immersed in the world.
Still, thanks to laura0141 for starting up the ring - I'm glad I got the opportunity to read it. Will PM RDWirral now and arrange to send on...

Posted to RDWirral just now. Hope you enjoy the book!
Recieved today thanks - I was warned that if I signed up for too many rings/rays they would all arrive together, and this is precisely what has happened! Gulp! I have worked out an order of play though, so should proceed nicely!
Read over the course of the afternoon/evening took about 5 hours will PM laura for her address, and then move onto Lost In A Good Book another of the rays I've got.
Really enjoyed it, did 19th Century lit as part of my degree and had only just finished watching the BBC Adaptation of Jane Eyre. I do agree with another posters comment about Acheron Hades though, he seems like a panto vilian and we never learn enough about his background or motive.
